Our History Buff Says:

William Floyd, a signer of the Declaration of Independence and a representative at the First Continental Congress, was also a proud Long Island plantation patriarch. He was also a colonel in the Revolutionary War, as a member of the Suffolk County Militia. For eight generations, beginning in 1718, the Floyd family inhabited the William Floyd Estate, located in Mastic Beach, directly across Narrow Bay, from Fire Island.

The estate includes the Old Mastic House, outbuildings, the Floyd family cemetery and large grounds. Today the restored home features original portraits, historic artifacts, and period furnishings. David Crosby of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young is a descendant or William Floyd. Ask for proof.
