With 45,000 feet of beautiful Bay frontage, a maritime forest filled with red cedar, black-jack oak trees, and prickly-pear cactus, water fowl, including terns and ospreys, in the marshes and hillocks, Orient Beach State Park is a true natural wonderland, promising a beach experience to remember. Orient Beach boasts a lovely wood deck, from which visitors can take in a view of Gardiner's Bay, where swimming, kayaking, and fishing are encouraged. Enjoy a picnic by the beach, or a barbeque with the family on the onsite grills.
In the mood for some action? Seek a bit more activity? Go hiking, biking, or walking along either the Roy Latham Maritime Forest Trail or the Long Beach Trail, with the self-guided brochures or guided tours. Bikes are available for guest rentals (the only state park on Long Island that offers this) and there are environmental tours offered for the nature enthusiasts out there. Or perhaps volleyball, croquet, or badminton are more your style. Younger visitors who get antsy can head straight to the playground, and there are showers available for a quick clean up when necessary.
The summer in Orient Beach State Park brings near-perfect temperatures of about 72 degrees in which to enjoy all of the great outdoor activities available. Should you get hungry, there are even food concessions!
