Wilderness backcountry camping is available at Otis Pike Fire Island Wilderness near the eastern end of Fire Island. You should be prepared to hike more than a mile into the wilderness with your gear and you will need to stop off at the Fire Island Wilderness Visitor Center at Smith Point for a camping permit.
