Our Sports Superfan Says:

With four different tracks, and as the acknowledged home of several top auto racing teams, Las Vegas Motor Speedway is a hub of car-racing activity. In addition to hosting three NASCAR events and two drag racing events, the track also hosts bi-weekly local drag racing (in an effort to keep it off the Vegas streets) and Las Vegas police driving training.

The main event at the track is held in late February or early March; the UAW-Dodge 400. There is also a Busch Series (NASCAR's minor league) event the day before, with qualifying during the week. There are truck and bracket races on the superspeedway main track, and also races held on the other tracks (dirt, bullring, and drag strip). In addition to NASCAR, the main track used to also host some open-wheel racing events.

LVSM opened in 1996, and the main superspeedway was remodeled in 2006 for stock car racing. As a result, the turn banking becomes more severe with each turn in the lap. The track features the "Neon Garage," a state-of-the-art interactive fan area located on the track's infield. The Las Vegas Motor Speedway offers hourly tours Monday-Saturday from 9 am-4 pm, and Sunday from 11-4. There are also travel packages available for race weeks.

Many fans prefer to drive to the track, where camping facilities are available for RVs and other vehicles. However, those wishing to arrive by public transportation can do so by taking the Las Vegas CAT Bus to the track on race days.
