Our Ski Specialist Says:

"Real Snow – Real Close" is the headliner of Las Vegas Ski. So close actually, that this ski resort is only 45 minutes away from the Las Vegas strip, which is known to be hotter than hot no matter what activities take place. Home to acts from all over the world, it's no surprise that Las Vegas also moonlights as a ski area during the winter months.

Located in the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, which receives no less than 300 days of sunshine a year, this 9,370 foot summit is a pleasure to ride from November to April. With only eleven trails, mainly for intermediate level riders, Las Vegas Ski tries to cater to all skill levels with their variation of terrain from beginner to advanced levels. There are four chairlifts to shuttle riders to and from the top. Ski Las Vegas also caters to the snowboarders out there with a terrain park comprised of tabletop jumps and various rail setups, in addition to a 500 foot halfpipe.

Lessons are something special at Las Vegas Ski with their icon, Marcel, who is a native of Switzerland and has over 35 years of teaching experience. Students who opt to have a private lesson with Marcel inevitably see remarkable improvement even within their first hour! Adults and children can learn in 1 1/2 or 5 hour sessions in a group or private setting. Las Vegas Ski's "Snowkids" program for 4 to 12 year olds are offered in full or half day programs that include the lessons, rental equipment, lift pass, and lunch, all with their newfound friends and the friendly instructors that ride with them the whole time.

Credit card deposits are required for all ski and snowboard rentals, and those under age 18 must have a parental or guardian signature to sign out the equipment. There are rates available for children through seniors, in addition to group rates for groups of 20 or more. All of these may purchase their lift passes for full or half day (1pm to 4pm) time blocks.

At the end of the day, head into the Bristlecone Bar for a full service lounge with drink specials and light bare fare or, if looking for a heartier meal, stop into the Big Horn Café for their mesquite-fired grill that serves up steaks, tasty burgers, and anything else you can imagine stoking on a grill.

For lodging, nightlife, or a sinful amount of food, head for the Las Vegas strip. Five star casinos are available everywhere for you to try your luck. Las Vegas has lodging to suit anyone, no matter the size of the wallet paying for it. There's everything available from resorts and hotels right on down to tiny strip motels. Nor will you ever go hungry in Sin City, with its all you can eat 24 hour buffets, Japanese sushi houses, and national chain fast food places with huge play parks attached inside!

The night never has to end just because Las Vegas Ski shuts down at 4pm, so play your cards right and this ski area may just be the jackpot all you skiers and snowboarders will be glad you hit this winter.
