Our Nature Nut Says:

Just about every water sport known to man can be enjoyed within this national recreation area, including swimming, boating, fishing, waterskiing, and scuba diving on Lake Mead and Lake Mohave, the twin jewels of this glorious desert playground. On dry land, explore the desert terrain, sheer cliffs, and the famous Hoover Dam, which created Lake Mead. A short hike through the desert will reward you with magnificent mountain and canyon views and possibly some wildlife sightings. If you have time after splashing around all day, stick around for an amazing Lake Mead sunset.
In addition, the park is home to remarkable archeological sites and has a rich cultural history. Human settlement and activity in the park goes back more than 10,000 years.

From Lake Mead National Recreation Area - Nevada:

Lake Mead National Recreation Area (NRA) offers a wealth of things to do and places to go year-round. Its huge lakes cater to boaters, swimmers, sunbathers, and fishermen while its desert rewards hikers, wildlife photographers, and roadside sightseers. Three of America's four desert ecosystems--the Mojave, the Great Basin, and the Sonoran Deserts--meet in Lake Mead NRA. As a result, this seemingly barren area contains a surprising variety of plants and animals, some of which may be found nowhere else in the world.
