Our Museum Expert Says:

Attention Las Vegas lovers: This city is no longer just for nightlife! Visit the Las Vegas Art Museum, the first fine-arts museum in southern Nevada and the state's largest fine art gallery, filled with contemporary art exhibits which will enrich all who visit!

An acclaimed art museum, located about 8 miles west of the Las Vegas Strip, the Las Vegas Art Museum is a great stopover in a city known for almost everything else but culture. Nevada's oldest museum has an exceptional permanent collection and various temporary exhibitions that mostly specialize in contemporary and modern art. Recent exhibitions have featured Roy Lichtenstein's prints, an exhibition of models by architect Frank Gehry, and the three-dimensional paintings of Kaz Oshiro. Others exhibits have included diverse collections ranging from "100 Years of Influence: The Women Who Shaped Las Vegas" to "George Hunter: 50-Year Photographic Survey of Canada."

The Las Vegas Art Museum also works with the Clark County School District to foster the artistic development of local youths, and holds numerous art competitions throughout the year. The museum provides a number of guided tours (approximately 45 minutes) for visitors to learn more about current exhibitions, all led by trained docent educators. The Las Vegas Art Museum is located at 9600 W. Sahara Ave.
