Our Casino Expert Says:

Visible from practically anywhere in Las Vegas is the Stratosphere Casino Hotel & Tower on the northern edge of the Strip. Inside there's an 80,000-square-foot gaming area full of 1,600 slot machines, a poker room, table games, and a race and sports book. Way up in the tower you can dine in a posh revolving restaurant and cocktail lounge, and get the best possible view of Las Vegas from the indoor and outdoor observation decks. At almost 1,150 feet the tower is the tallest building west of the Mississippi River and stands twice the height of any other building in Las Vegas. If you seek some excitement away from the gambling action, ride any one of the thrilling rides up top, some of which practically leave you dangling in mid-air 1,000 feet above the ground.
Guests are whisked from the ground floor to the observation decks in less than 35 seconds via double-decker elevators traveling at speeds of 1,800 feet per minute or three floors a second. Once you've arrived, you can ride the Big Shot, which shoots riders 160 feet in the air in 2.5 seconds; or the all-new X Scream, a teeter-totter-like ride that tilts passengers 30 feet over the edge of the tower.
If you're looking for a different kind of a thrill, browse the 50 specialty shops in The Tower Shops or lounge by the 67,000-square-foot resort pool and recreation deck in the hotel, which also features nearly 2,500 guest rooms and suites. Inside the Theatre of the Stars, you can see the variety show "Viva Las Vegas" in the afternoon and "American Superstars" - a tribute to today's and yesterday's hottest stars, Britney Spears, Elvis Presley, Christina Aguilera, Charlie Daniels, Michael Jackson and Ricky Martin - in the evening.
Dining options include the Courtyard Buffet; Roxy's Diner, a 1950s-style eatery serving burgers, fries and shakes; Fellini's Ristorante Italiano; Oyster Bar and inland dishes of Mexico at the Crazy Armadillo; the vintage Vegas-themed Lucky's Cafe coffee shop and the Top of the World gourmet restaurant, which revolves 360-degrees every hour. The Trick Art Museum - the latest addition to the Stratosphere - features Japanese art techniques that transform flat paintings into "living" three-dimensional artwork. This interactive museum allows people to see, touch and photograph the paintings.
