Zoos and Aquariums in Las Vegas and the Nevada desert

Things to do / Travel Guide

As you're in Las Vegas, you know the zoo and aquarium offerings will be anything but ordinary.

Take the Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay. Their tank holds 2 million gallons of water and reaches a maximum depth of 22 feet. Over 1,200 species of aquatic life live here including piranha, monkey fish, and sea turtles. There's also a “touch pool,” where visitors young and old can pet Southern Rays, Port Jackson Sharks, and Horseshoe Crabs.

The Flamingo Wildlife Habitat is at the Flamingo Hotel and Resort and free to visit for anyone who comes on the hotel-casino's premises. In addition to flamingoes, you'll see African penguins, swans, ducks, turtles, and more.

Cat lovers will roar for the Lion Habitat, at the MGM Grand (think of the regal lion at the start of many MGM movies), where they'll be able to see the big cats from every angle (even right on top of you!) and from inches away. Even dog owners are guaranteed to love this unique experience. Take a picture and the great beasts' eyes appear green in your camera!
