Na Pali Coast

Things to do / Travel Guide

Address:Kauai, Hawaii

Our Tourist Attractions Expert Says:

Na Pali means "The Cliffs" and Hawaii's finest are found on this rugged 25-mile stretch of coastline between Kee Beach in the north and Polihale State Park to the west. The Na Pali coast is comprised of five major valleys: Kalalau, Honopu, Awaawapuhi, Nualolo, and Milolii.

The Na Pali's deep river valleys are extremely fertile but their sheer topography allow limited access and today only the Kalalua, Hanakoa, and Hanakapiai Valleys are reachable by foot along the 11-mile Kalalau Trail. Beware that this hike is only for experienced hikers and usually takes a minimum of seven hours to hike (many people prefer to break the trip up and stop and camp overnight along the trail). All along the trail, you will be treated to deserted white sand beaches with steep green cliffs as backdrops. Divers will find much to explore along the route.
