Imagine yourself swimming in the clearest of lagoons, surrounded by emerald cliffs above and exotic fish below. The water is calm, the weather is beautiful, the sun is golden, and everyone around you is happy. Welcome to Anini Beach County Park – where you'll find all these things, plus more!
The water in the lagoon around this part of the island of Kauai is only about 4-5 feet deep. This makes for a perfect swimming environment of visitors of all ages and is one of the best snorkeling spots on Kauai. The waters are extremely calm due to a reef that blocks out the waves (the longest fringing reef in Hawaii!). Past the lagoon, the water drops off to about 60 feet, creating an absolutely perfect diving area. You'll also see plenty of windsurfers enjoying the water as well.
So that takes care of the water activities; but at Anini Beach, you'll see just as many people enjoying the three mile stretch of sand as the water. The sand is golden and clean. Beachcombers seek out beautiful, rare shells. Sunbathers enjoy the cushion of the sand while soaking up some sun. There are also picnic areas, BBQ facilities, a park, bathrooms and showers, and a campground – enough for you to spend at least a few days enjoying this paradisiacal playground!
