Napali Coast
Kayaking along the Napali Coast of Kauai will allow you to experience what is considered one of the top sea kayaking day trips in the world. The coastline offers views of dramatic and towering cliffs and deep green valleys. Kayak into sea caves (weather and surf conditions permitting) accompanied by sea turtles, dolphins, and, occasionally, even a rare monk seal.
The sea kayaking season lasts from May-September. Kayaks can be rented at most dive operators around Kauai for about $35 a day, which usually includes the cost of paddles and life vests. Guided tours, on the other hand, cost upwards of $150 per person.
Surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and featuring streams that cut through the island's lush green, tropical landscape, those looking for a paddling opportunity on Kauai will not be disappointed. There are many locations throughout Kauai that rent out paddling equipment, usually for around $40 per boat. Guided paddling tours are also available for around $100 per person ($75 for children), and usually include lunch.
Wailua River
The approximately 12-mile-long Wailua River can provide the classic Hawaiian paddling adventure, as it is THE place to experience the gorgeous, calm waters of a jungle stream. The gorgeous, smooth waters of this jungle stream allow visitors to paddle deep into the heart of the island, all the way to the shadow of Mt. Waialeale. This paddling excursion is easy enough for entire families to try together, and takes about 5-7 hours to complete.
Hanalei River
The Hanalei River begins its run at the village of Hanalei. The entire river, from one end to the other, is about 16 miles long from its source to the Pacific Ocean, but some paddlers may opt to only paddle around part of the river and the adjacent Hanalei Bay. Paddlers will have spectacular views of magnificent waterfalls, lush green mountains, sparkling ocean waters, and beautiful beaches while moving along the route. This excursion is for the whole family.

Some outfitters on the Hanalei River will rent you a kayak and throw in snorkel gear for free! Among the tours some rental outfitters offer are a guided paddle up the Wailua River and an ocean tour along the Napali Coast.
