Costs for Hawaiian Island of Kauai

Things to do / Travel Guide

Prices on Kauai are pretty consistently expensive all year round, with the exception of a decrease during tropical storm season, in the late summer, and a bit of a jump around the winter holiday season.

Hotel rooms run at least $300 nightly in the most exclusive resorts. Moderate rooms can be found in the $150 range in the Wailua area. The only real money-saving option in terms of lodging is camping. Kauai's camping options sometimes cost as little as $5, but require permits from the Division of State Parks, which is located at 3060 Eiwa Street, room 306 in Lihue. Once you are on Kauai, you can find deals on meals and most of the sightseeing is low cost or free.

Lots of Kauai's sightseeing options (i.e., helicopters, boats, etc.) are expensive, and some of the best sights really need to be seen that way to be fully appreciated. So keep in mind that sightseeing costs can be quite high.
