Luxury Vacations for Atlantic City, Wildwood, Cape May, New Jersey Shore

Things to do / Travel Guide

For the luxuriant, the Jersey Shore means one thing: Atlantic City, baby! Enjoy it! Take your pick and try your luck at any or all of the more-than dozen casinos within city limits. At the East Coast's answer to Las Vegas, they'll treat you like honored guests. First-class hotels and top restaurants are scattered throughout America's most famous Boardwalk, as well as the rest of the city. On your trip you'll find that Atlantic City's attractiveness may be focused on gaming, but for all the sea-based attractions, it sure doesn't end there.

Luxurious Accommodation on the New Jersey Shore

The hands-down winner for luxury in the lodging department is the Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa.
If it's what you're looking for, you can have an entire Atlantic City experience on the premises. The suites are top notch - with spacious bathrooms, great views from floor to ceiling windows, wall televisions, and punctual room service. With all the complex's amenities, there's still good reason to leave your room. Downstairs, Spa Toccare awaits. This spa's draw is its dedication to relaxation, peeling off the grime and wear of a day's, or a year's, hard work. Facials, exfoliation body scrubs, and massages will leave you feeling that THIS must be the Atlantic City experience. There's even more reason to leave your hotel room: Borgata's entertainment takes place in three venues - two for music and one for comedy. Whenever your stay, there will be class acts performing just down the hall. Never got to see The Who? Now's the time!

Borgata's just the newest of the bunch - you can also stay at an esteemed member of the Trump family of hotels, the Taj Mahal. Flashy is the name of the game at this Atlantic City establishment, but there's substance for all that flash. Stay in a Hospitality Suite; each one is themed to a different Asian or African animal, comes with a fully-outfitted bar, a king-sized bed, and large floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the Atlantic Ocean. The best of the bunch? The Alexander the Great Suite, at $10,000 a night, which comes with its own steam room, bar and lounge, weight room, master bedroom, and more.

The Taj's outside façade is nothing short of epic, a triumph of money. Seventy minarets adorn the rooftops and seven stone elephants serve as sentinels at the front entrance. The list goes on. Inside, the Taj's casino is one of the world's biggest. The poker parlor is the city's largest, the baccarat pit is at the height of opulence, and there are 4,000 slot machines at which to try your luck.

Moving down the Boardwalk, one of the other more famous casinos of Atlantic City is the Tropicana. From its luxurious poker room, featuring dozens of tables, including its famous “pink chip game,” and countless flat-screen television monitors, to the thousands of slot machines and table games galore, the Tropicana is truly a world unto itself, and with 2,100 hotel rooms, it's the largest such establishment in town.

Luxurious Dining on the New Jersey Shore

Now how about some decadent food? There's no end to the culinary treats served with an extra scoop of decadence at the casinos. Eat at the Taj's Dynasty for Eastern cuisines such as Cantonese and Chinese, or the Hilton's Peregrines', for American cuisine including seafood. Or how about the Bachanal, at Caesars, with its Roman theme - from the emperor maitre d' to the proto-Italian cuisine.

The Roman setting, the Eastern cuisines, that's all Atlantic City in its current incarnation. Though it's perfect for a luxurious evening, you can also find some old-time luxury in the city, hearkening back to its days as a resort town on the sea. The best seafood haunt in town is Docks Oyster House. You can eat succulent oysters, of course, but there are plenty of other seafood dishes. Try the French-fried beets!

Luxurious Activities on the New Jersey Shore

More out of the way of the casinos, and more in touch with the sea, you'll have a great time taking advantage of Atlantic City's yachting opportunities. From Atlantic City's marina you can take out a luxury yacht to go touring the coast. Decked out with wet bar, two heads, and lavish furniture, it's like taking your hotel suite out to sea. Indeed, here's one activity that strays from Atlantic City and involves the entire Jersey Shore. For an excursion around the northern tip of region, enjoy sunset sails on the Raritan Bay and Lower New York Bay, which provide exquisite views of the Manhattan skyline and Sandy Hook Lighthouse.

Another excellent way to get a feel for the land is from above - aboard a helicopter. Gain a bird's-eye view of all Atlantic City's casinos and hotels and the Boardwalk, or buzz over to Pineland National Preserve and Jersey Shore's waterways. Atlantic City may be this region's hub for luxury, but a helicopter ride is a great way to explore the rest of the scene. Be awed by the all the inlets and barrier islands, and charmed by the ocean-side towns and old resort towns.

Atlantic City, on the Jersey Shore, is a wonderful place for the luxury-minded. Bright lights, large sums of money changing hands at the drop of a card, opulent meals, and lavish rooms and suites - all make this one “can't-miss” destination for those accustomed to the high life.
