Resort and Lodging Guide

For tourists who long for luxury and those who crave simplicity, for tourists who want a haven of history and those who want a den of doo-wop, for tourists willing to splurge and those wishing to save, the Jersey Shore can easily accommodate your accommodation needs. While your stay in an Atlantic City hotel may or may not be on one of the famous Monopoly properties, you will certainly find whatever it is you (and your budget) are looking for.

Atlantic City Casino Hotels in the Jersey Shore

If you are drawn to Atlantic City's glitz and glamour, bright lights, and big-name entertainment acts, if you simply must stay near the apex of the action, then one of Atlantic City's casino hotels will likely fit the bill. Some of the most lucrative in the world, Atlantic City's large casino resorts, both on and near the Atlantic City Boardwalk, feature a wide range of accommodation options, from standard rooms to top-floor penthouse suites (exotic and flamboyant décor not excluded) and just about everything in between. Naturally, though, you'll have to pay for the privilege of staying where all the action is.

Atlantic City hotels are among some of the most lavish in the world. Seven two-ton elephants greet visitors to the elaborate, architectural extravaganza that is the Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort. In addition to nine restaurants, an indoor Olympic-size pool, and state-of-the-art fitness and spa facilities, the Taj Mahal offers 980 guest rooms and more than 150 suites (including animal-themed hospitality suites), the most expensive of which, the Alexander the Great Suite, encompasses 4,500 square feet and costs $10,000 per night. Not to be outdone, Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa on Borgata Way offers almost a dozen restaurants, 2,000 guest rooms they claim are “more spacious than standard, more everything than standard,” and a range of luxury suites in a tower that glitters gold in the sun. For a veritable Boardwalk empire try Caesars Atlantic City Hotel Casino.
You won't miss the enormous horse fountain at the entrance, and Romanesque refineries recreate a Roman plaza in the imported-marble lobby that easily doubles as a temple. With over 1,700 rooms in two separate, elaborate hotel towers, you will have eight in-house restaurants at which to dine like emperors and empresses.

High-End Hotels in the Jersey Shore

For a pampered, luxurious stay on the Jersey Shore, relish the comfort and elegance that only the most exclusive accommodations will provide. Oceanfront spas, resorts, and luxury hotels with breathtaking views, private beach entrances, outdoor and indoor swimming pools, and fitness centers are available in many Jersey Shore towns including Atlantic Highlands, Spring Lake, Long Branch, Point Pleasant Beach, Ocean City, Atlantic City, and Cape May.

Mid-Range Hotels and Motels in the Jersey Shore

Looking for a motel with a Motown motif? Head to the Doo Wop Historical Motel District, one of the nation's most impressive collections of 1950s-era motels covering a 40-block area in Wildwood. In addition, the space-age architectural style of many of Wildwood's motels never fails to wow. Other less whimsical, but comfortable and clean, mid-range hotels and motels are scattered throughout the region. Most Jersey Shore towns, including Belmar, Avon-By-The-Sea, Wall, Point Pleasant Beach, Seaside Heights, and Ocean City have their own mom-and-pop-owned motels, many of which have ocean views and are within walking distance from the beach and major shopping areas. More inexpensive hotels and motels are located further inland, and aren't always walking-distance from the beaches.

Historic Inns and Bed & Breakfasts in the Jersey Shore

A stay at a historic Jersey Shore inn or bed and breakfast establishment (B&B) gives you a chance to learn about the region's history up close, as many of these places to lodge are converted Victorian estates with fascinating histories. While nearly every Jersey Shore coastal town has at least one historic inn or B&B, Cape May has one of the largest concentrations of B&Bs in the U.S. Spring Lake, further north along the coast, is also home to many lovely, oceanfront options. Though the buildings that house B&Bs and historic inns may be old, the amenities are completely modern. Many such establishments are located on or just near the water, with rooms featuring great views of the expansive Atlantic Ocean.

Apartment and Beach House Rentals in the Jersey Shore

If you feel like having a little more privacy and freedom than most lodging options afford, take part in a longstanding Jersey Shore tradition by staying in a rented vacation house or apartment. For decades families have packed up and shipped off on vacation to a new, temporary seaside cottage, villa, or bungalow. Nearly every Jersey Shore coastal town, including Cape May, Seaside Heights, Point Pleasant Beach, and North Wildwood, has a range of rental options, and though they may not save you much money, you'll certainly enjoy the benefits of a home-away-from-home. Vacation rentals are particularly popular in the towns of Manasquan and Belmar. Because the towns place no limit on the number of people who can stay in a house, college students tend to cram into cottages, bungalows, and coastal houses by the dozen, making for a cheap (if not cramped) summer seaside stay. Families looking for rentals also enjoy these towns, which also offer rentals far enough away from the student party scene to get a good night's sleep. The best way to find a Jersey Shore vacation rental is online - literally hundreds of websites offer information about locations and photos, prices, and virtual tours for a wide variety of vacation rentals located throughout Jersey Shore. Also, nearly every Jersey Shore town has realty agencies that can help you find the vacation rental property that's right for you.

Campgrounds and Cabins in the Jersey Shore

Camping is a great, affordable way to stay in the Jersey Shore. Campgrounds are available throughout the Jersey Shore, even near Atlantic City. Most campgrounds supply hot water and electricity, and a few are well-equipped with plenty of extras including whirlpools, heated pools, recreation centers, playgrounds, and tennis and basketball courts. Many campgrounds also feature on-site cabins available for rent - a great option when the weather looks iffy. Among the many places that offer cabins are Avalon Campground in Clermont, Frontier Campground in Ocean View, Holly Shores Holiday Trav-L-Park in Cape May, and Atlantic City North Family Campground in Tuckerton. Note that these are essentially the only Jersey Shore lodging options that are almost always located inland, and not near the coastline. Allaire State Park's 55 campground sites and collection of cabins (open year-round) are the Jersey Shore state park accommodations closest to the ocean.
