Beaches in Atlantic City, Wildwood, Cape May, New Jersey Shore

Things to do / Travel Guide

Lots of words describe the Jersey Shore: 'old time', 'quaint', and 'classic' are just a few. What it is, is a coastline of Atlantic beaches lined with boardwalks, amusement parks, mansions and gambling. The beach itself is wide, and the surf is great for wading, swimming and surfing. New Yorkers and Philadelphians both love “The Shore,” as it is known to the Jerseyites who also spend their summer weekends and holidays cooling off in the glittering waters.

Every town along the coast has a beach with its own unique ambiance. At the southern tip you'll find Cape May, a charming town filled with Victorian era mansions, many of which serve as bed and breakfasts, inns, and hotels.
You'll find guests passing the day sitting in rockers on the mansions' porches and drinking iced tea while watching the crowds flood toward the beaches.

Further up the coast is Atlantic City with its famous boardwalk and towering casinos. Some visitors to this storied town never see the beach, consumed as they are with winning money and enjoying the world-class shows in the local hotels. Atlantic City may be best known, however, thanks to the popular board game Monopoly. The creators of the game named all the properties one can buy in the game after streets in this Jersey town.

Asbury Park offers another great beach and boardwalk made famous internationally by Bruce Springsteen and his album “Greetings From Asbury Park.” Music is a major theme at this beach, so don't miss out on the club scene after a day in the sun.
