Kilauea Caldera - Hawaii

Things to do / Travel Guide

Our Nature Nut Says:

Come pay homage to the most active volcano in the world! Perched at 3,980 feet above sea level, the Kilauea volcano at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park attracts thousands of visitors every year, who tour the volcano by bus, car or bicycle. The Kilauea overlook, about 2 miles east of the Visitor Center, provides an excellent view of Kilauea Caldera across ash and cooled lava flows. Look towards the horizon for the Ai-laau shield, whose vent was active about 350-500 years ago and sent lava all the way to the ocean, forming the famous caldera.
