Things to do / Travel Guide
Address:Honomu, Hawaii
Found on the island of Hawaii, this State Park is home to both Kahuna Falls and Akaka Falls, with the latter being the main attraction here. Akaka Falls can be viewed from the right shoulder of the gorge and from several points along the 0.4-mile loop trail, which winds through multi-colored rainforest vegetation. The Falls' water flows down into a foaming pool below, which is surrounded by fragrant ginger of whites, yellows and reds. The downhill portion of the loop trail leads to Kahuna falls, at 400 feet, but if you plan on seeing both, we suggest you save Akaka Falls for last, as it is certainly the more dramatic of the two. Either way, visitors are sure to fall in love with this flowing tropical paradise.
