A beautiful house of Buddhist worship is available as the site for enlightenment at the Nechung Dorje Drayang Ling Buddhist Temple in Pahala, Hawaii. Established in 1973, it is the first Buddhist temple built in Hawaii. Today, the 25-acre temple hosts retreats and educational and spiritual experiences for all to enjoy.

In 1973, the Venerable Nechung Rinpoche established the Nechung Dorje Drayang Ling Buddhist Temple as a center for disseminating Buddhist teachings. The Nechung Dorje Drayang Ling Buddhist Temple was the site of a visit from the Dalai Lama in October 1980 and again in April 1994, both of which drew thousands of followers to hear his wisdom.

The Nechung Dorje Drayang Ling Buddhist Temple is known for its beautiful retreat center and educational experiences. Retreats at the Nechung Dorje Drayang Ling Buddhist Temple are offered several times a year to educate participants about the various facets of Buddhism. The Nechung Dorje Drayang Ling Buddhist Temple's retreat center is nestled in a eucalyptus forest and is beautifully fashioned to serve as a natural extension of the environment. After their experience at the temple, visitors can find a variety of restaurants along the coast, starting with a café and shopping center in Pahala itself and a variety of Asian restaurants farther south in Hawaiian Ocean View and Naalehu.

To get to the Nechung Dorje Drayang Ling Buddhist Temple, take Highway 11 to Pahala, then turn right onto Pikake Street, then continue straight and turn left onto the paved road at the forest. Visit the Nechung Dorje Drayang Ling Buddhist Temple and have a rewarding spiritual experience.
