Our Beach Bum Says:

Kick back and relax at this quiet neighborhood beach just outside of Kawaihae, while the kids splash and swim in gentle Hawaiian waters! At Spencer Beach Park, everyone can rest easy with the reef-protected, softly sloping white-sand beach that's safe for swimming in throughout the year. The calm bay is ideal for young swimmers and snorkeling too, and the soft sand can't be beat for afternoon snoozes. You'll know you've reached the coral reef when the water deepens and coral heads appear on the sandy bottom of the Bay. You may even see a turtle or two here, so keep your eyes peeled for them.

Spencer Beach Park also has shaded grassy areas with BBQ grills and picnic tables (pack a picnic for the whole family to enjoy), as well as comfy camping facilities with bathrooms and showers, should you choose to stay the night. If you're looking to take in a bit of history while you're here, the Beach is an easy walk from the Pu'ukohola and Mailekini heiaus at the Pu'ukohala Heiau National Historic Site.
