The natural beauty of the Big Island combined with local talent has helped to create a lively art scene. Some of the small towns around the island, most notably Holualoa and Volcano, are known for their art galleries and stores that sell local handiworks.
Additionally, many tourists take home macadamia nuts and Kona coffee, which can both be purchased on the Big Island.
Over 100 local farmers and craftsmen sell their produce, handiwork, gift items, and tropical flowers in a festive outdoor atmosphere at the Hilo Farmer's Market (Wed. - Sat. from dawn).
