White Pine ski area offers a little bit of something for everyone. Downhill skiers and snowboarders will surely enjoy the short lift lines and uncrowded slopes, while cross country and Nordic skiers can spend the day discovering miles of groomed and ungroomed terrain. The ride up the mountain also provides breath-taking views of some of Mother Earth's natural beauties, including the Continental Divide, the Wind River Mountains, and Fremont Lake.
Weather permitting, White Pine's season goes from late November until early April, with ski days running from 9:00am to 4:00pm. There are 25 runs and 3 lifts including the "Great Spirit" lift which climbs to the summit of Fortification Mountain. From there you can catch a great glimpse of numerous sites including the Continental Divide, the Wind River Mountains, the Bridger Wilderness, and Fremont Lake. You can also view the Wyoming Range, the Gros Ventre Mountains, Teton Peaks, and the Uinta Range of Utah from the summit.
The mountain's vertical drop is relatively small compared to some of its Wyoming neighbors, but worry-not advanced skiers! Over the last few years management has implemented significant improvements to its existing trails, and also created more black diamond trails, while introducing the Olympic-styled launch and landing pad designed for ski jumping. Snowboarders are free to roam on all 25 runs on the mountain. Make sure to check out the event calendar for the many exciting events that take place here around the calendar such as the Sonny Korfanta Fun Race and the Wyoming Winter Senior Games.
For those skiers looking for a non-downhill thrill, White Pine is a paradise of cross-country and Nordic skiing. There are ski trails adjacent to the lodge and still more miles of groomed and ungroomed trails available in the Bridger-Teton Forest and Bridger Wilderness area. With over 30 kilometers groomed for skating lanes and access to backcountry skiing, White Pine is sure to put a grin on any cross-country skiers face.
White Pine's, smoke free, log post and beam base lodge features a variety of services as well as a choice of dining and après-ski. There's a great view of the slopes to be had on the lodge's slope-side redwood decks. Two restaurants are available for evening dining, and a full-service bar with a cozy fireplace for some après-ski vin chaud. Additional après-ski options are available in the town of Pinedale just 10 miles away.
Lodging is available in slope-side cabins available on the mountain. A variety of motels and inns are available as well in nearby Pinedale.
