Our Ski Specialist Says:

Big Horn Ski Resort guarantees a unique skiing experience with its mountain's wide array of natural elements, and the beautiful cliffs overlooking the picturesque Meadowlark Lake, that ensure a great view on the way down the hill. The Resort prides itself on its snow. Due to its location at the base of High Park Peak in Wyoming, adjacent to the infamous Powder River Pass, Big Horn is amply provided with natural snow. The resort is famous for its deep powder, though, should the weather disappoint, the mountain's snow guns are at the ready to take over on more than half its runs to make sure that a great time is always had by all.

Big Horn Ski Resort is located at the top of the Big Horn Mountain Range. It features 14 runs and 3 lifts (including a Double, a Triple, and a Hand Tow) to get you quickly up the mountain. The mountain has a vertical drop of 1,000 feet and 160 skiable acres. Don't let the complex's small size fool you; its longest run is 1.5 miles long. Snowboarders are certainly welcome to carve up any of the 14 trails, but will likely be more attracted by the Terrain Park, the Jib Park and the longest Half Pipe in Wyoming.

The mountain's season begins in late November and runs until the first week of April. Note that the mountain is open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, as well as on all national and school holidays during the season, but is not open during the rest of the week. The mountain's operating hours run from 9:00am to 4:00pm, with half-day passes available for the afternoon skier.

There are many options for checking out the beautiful Wyoming landscape, and many adventurous ways to do it. There are 15km of cross country trails available for snowshoeing adventures, or you could always decide to go snowmobiling. Looking for something different? Meadowlark Lake has some of the best ice fishing in northern Wyoming and is definitely worth a try at catching a prize. For the more daring, the Big Horns are known as an ice climber's paradise with far more than 300 climbs available.

There are three restaurants and a bar on the mountain and, if you're looking for a place to warm up, the mountain's wooden lodge can provide you with a bite to eat and a place to quench your thirst. It also features a large stone fireplace, a pool, and additional entertainment. For a little more variety, you're just a short drive away from historic Buffalo, Wyoming as well as to Worland, Wyoming (4 miles), both of which have a variety of restaurants to suit any taste.

Big Horn Ski Resort is located on Big Horn Mountain Properties along U.S. Highway 16, between Worland and Buffalo. For overnight lodging by the ski hill, there are two resorts located just across the lake from Big Horn Ski. In addition, both Buffalo and Worland offer a variety of both smaller motels and nationally recognized hotel chains.
