On over 40 acres of grounds belonging to the Bureau of Land Management, Greater Yellowstone visitors can trace the footsteps of dinosaurs dating back 160 million years. The tracks of the dinosaurs, discovered in 1997, demonstrate that the area was once covered by soft mud - not just a huge ocean - as scientist previously believed. Visitors can spot foot prints of over 100 feet in size and other fossil traces on the grounds, and are allowed to take home petrified wood and plant fossils. The site is located in Big Horn County east of Cody, close to Shell, Wyoming.
