Explore the second largest National Forest outside of Alaska. From floating on the Snake River to snowmobiling and skiing, Bridger-Teton National Forest has the recreation to match it's awesome size. With more than 1.2 million acres of wilderness in the Bridger, Gros Ventre, and Teton Wilderness Areas, Bridger Teton National Forest is overflowing with beautiful vistas and abundant wildlife.
Visitors can enjoy the serenity of crystal blue skies and towering mountain ranges, some of which reach over 13,000 feet high, along with part of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, the largest remaining area of undeveloped lands in the continental United States. Go hiking on an abundance of trails and wilderness in the backcountry or try canoeing, kayaking, or floating on the Snake River. Sport fishing is also a popular activity on the Bridger-Teton National Forest, with over 1000 lakes and hundreds of fishable streams filled with Cutthroat, brook, brown, golden, grayling, lake and rainbow trout. Wildlife watchers should visit during the summer, when trumpeter swans, sandhill cranes, coyotes, bald eagles, and elk are active, or opt for the winter and keep your eyes peeled for moose, mule deer and bighorn sheep. Those seeking winter sports can enjoy excellent downhill and cross-country skiing as well as snowmobiling.
The Bridger-Teton National Forest lies in western Wyoming south and east of Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks.
