Yellowstone, Wyoming and Montana Weather

Weather in the Yellowstone region is very unpredictable almost all year round due to high altitudes. Sudden showers resulting in temperature drops are common, and nighttime temperatures are always cold to freezing. The lengthy winters are full of freezing cold weather with common strong winds, intense blizzards, and heavy powdery snowfalls. Springs usher in warmer, but still cool to mild weather, with high winds and rainstorms being quite common. Summers in this rural region are sunny and pleasantly warm with occasional afternoon thunderstorms and lightning storms.
Falls enjoy pleasant temperatures during the day and cooler temperatures at night, with occasional intense snowstorms.

Travelers who visit this region in the summertime will be greeted by the best weather conditions for outdoor activities like hiking, fishing, and observing wildlife. Falls are nice too, but as winter approaches, temperatures drop significantly with the potential for snow increasing as the seasons wears on.
