Outdoor Recreation in Yellowstone Park, Grand Teton, Wyoming and Montana

Things to do / Travel Guide

Welcome to the vast wilderness of greater Yellowstone. The National Park itself, Grand Teton National Park, and all the surrounding forests are just waiting to be conquered – by you, of course! The park itself is larger than the states of Rhode Island and Delaware combined. It contains two thirds of all the geysers in the world, as well as the largest high-altitude lake in North America.

Biking and Hiking Trails in Yellowstone

If you can point to it on a map you can hike it and, while there isn't any mountain biking in Yellowstone, all the roads and service roads are bikable.
You'll be astonished at the amount of animals you'll come across: there's a good reason that the park has been called America's Serengeti. There are plenty of available bodies of water in addition to the geysers, so kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and diving are all available options. Yellowstone Lake offers magnificent views of the surrounding mountains and forests.

Climbing and Hiking Trails in the Grand Tetons

Outside Yellowstone National Park, pay homage to Grand Teton National Park, where the highest peak is over 2,000 feet higher than Yellowstone's highest peak. Hikers, climbers, kayakers, and other outdoor enthusiasts will find Grand Teton perfect for adventurous exploration, and the alpine scenery is sure to impress. Climbing straight up the mountains is also an option, but most people are more than content to hike around and up to the majestic peaks.

In the wintertime, when the lakes are frozen and no one dares hike into the vast white, there's always skiing, skiing, and more skiing. The center of action in the region is Jackson Hole, where three first-class resorts service the stars – and you. No matter what your skiing level, there are plenty of runs available to suit you.

It would take years to cover all the eye-catching scenery, ski all the slopes, and witness all the geysers in the greater Yellowstone region. However much you've already seen, it's always just the tip of the mountain.
