The Metropolitan Museum of Art Atlanta does not seem to exist, even though all our friends on the web – Yelp, Google, The Voice, all kinds of Atlanta websites and TripCart have pages dedicated to this museum that does not exist. To be fair, it may have once existed. Not that Atlanta is lacking in art museums. The High Museum of Art is the leading art museum in Atlanta and probably the leading one south of Washington, DC. Wherever you are in the world, if you feel like supporting the High Museum, grab a Coke. The building housing the museum was funded in large part by the president of Coca-Cola. Most of the other popular Atlanta museums are not art related – many are science related and of course, Coca-Cola related.
As far as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which seems not to exist in Atlanta, the Met referes to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, the museum is one of the leading art museums in the world. Other museums similarly named are the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Orlando, another one in California and another in Manila, Philippines. We can't vouch for these places existing but Yelp thinks so, so that's good enough for us. We advise calling first and if you only can get to one Metropolitan Museum of Art, make it the one on Fifth Avenue and allow lots of time.
