Public Recreational Park in Georgia

The Atlanta Centennial Park, located near Five Points, south of the Georgia Institute of Technology, is especially nice to visit on a hot summer day. It's free, clean, and safe for the kids. A central feature of the park is the fountain display, the Fountain of Rings, which shoots up jets of water set to music. It's for people of all ages, but kids in particular love to run around and get wet within. There are also two enormous playgrounds, and plenty of space to run around. Centennial Park was founded and built for the 1996 Summer Olympics, at which it was a central fixture.

Piedmont Park, north of downtown and east of I-75, is another fixture of Atlanta's park system. It's large enough to be hilly in some places and flat in others, treed in some and grassy in others, developed with basketball and tennis courts and baseball diamonds in some and undeveloped in others. There are ponds in the park, and they're open for fishing.

There's also Grant Park: Aside from the open space in which to run around, it also contains some fun attractions, such as Zoo Atlanta and the Atlanta Cyclorama. There are courts and fields for the traditional park games.

In Savannah, one relatively small park, but with a considerable amount of activities, is Daffin Park. There's a pool, a lake, room to run around in and have a picnic, a soccer field, tennis courts, and two baseball diamonds. One is for recreational use, the other is for Savannah's minor league baseball team, the Sand Gnats.

Public Recreational Park in South Carolina

Charleston's biggest park is Hampton Park. There are several baseball diamonds, lakes where you can feed the ducks, and tree-filled open areas. On the other side of the city, on the bay, is Hazel Parker Playground. Aside from the requisite ballpark and tennis courts, there are also plenty of slides and swings, and sand to crash into.
