A great activity in the Georgia and South Carolina region that your whole family can take part in is seashell collecting. There are lots of sand dollars, and the knobbed whelk shell is a Georgia state symbol. There are plenty of beaches at which to collect seashells all along the region's coastline. Look no further than the Golden Isles and Savannah in Georgia, and Hilton Head and Myrtle Beach in South Carolina. You can always find a secluded beach in these areas to do some concentrated seashell collecting.

Georgia is packed with places to go horseback riding. There are equestrian trails in every corner of the state, as well as horse rentals with and without guides. Explore the Ocmulgee River, or the Oconee National Forest, safe on the back of a horse. You can find ranches or horseback riding providers at these places, as well as in Ellenwood, Waleska, Conyers, Clyo, and other locales. Horseback riding is usually also a fun family activity.

Cruise through downtown Atlanta and through beautiful parks on a Segway. You can sign up for an organized Segway tour or rent one on your own and explore different historical neighborhood, shopping districts, and parks around Atlanta's bustling downtown area.
Another fun option is to explore Underground Atlanta, a historic stretch of outdoor restaurants, shops, and other forms of entertainment, depending on the day. Guided tours are also available.
Fun Things to Do in Myrtle Beach, SC
Horseback riding in Myrtle Beach gives beachgoers an active and fun alternative to water activities. There are a number of farms and historic plantations close to the beach that offer guided horse tours as well as parks and forests with horse riding trails that bring riders around the Myrtle Beach area, both close to the water and further out. Plan a beach ride at sunrise for a memorable experience.
Fun Things to Do in Charleston and Savannah
Take a horse-drawn carriage tour around historic Charleston. There are a number of companies that offer one hour tours of Old Charleston, past antebellum churches, mansions, and shops, and down cobblestone streets. Harbor tours in yachts and schooners offer another way to see the see the city, along with dolphins, fisheries, and other waterfront views.
Savannah also offers visitors fun things to do like carriage and harbor tours, as well as a 90-minute trolley tour of Savannah's Historic District. You may also want to consider a day trip to Savannah's nearby Sea Island, which includes a boat ride to the island (look out for dolphins!) followed by a golf cart tour of all the island has to offer.
