Yucca House National Monument, located between the Sleeping Ute Mountain and Mesa Verde, is a large ancestral Puebloan site. The site has not been excavated in an effort to preserve the site the way it once was. The actual pueblo, which was believed to have been inhabited approximately 700-900 years ago, lies under a huge mound of rocks and vegetation. Note that the site does not have any public facilities at all (i.e., no bathrooms), so you'll have to hold it until you get to Cortez, Colorado, the nearest town.
From Yucca House National Monument - Colorado:
Yucca House National Monument is a large, unexcavated Ancestral Puebloan surface site. Yucca House is located in Southwest Colorado between the towns of Towaoc and Cortez. Currently, there are no facilities or fees at Yucca House.
