This surreal national monument in northeastern Arizona, still home to Native American inhabitants, encompasses three major canyons: de Chelly, del Muerto, and Monument. The park is home to distinctive rock imagery, ancient artifacts, stunning geological formations, and beautiful Southwest scenery. Plan on hiking the spectacular White House Ruin Trail. Sheer red-walled canyons rise up to 1,000 feet high with many scenic overlooks and numerous well-preserved Anasazi ruins. Most of the park sites require a ranger or certified Navajo guide to reach. Visitors can rent horses or jeeps to tour the park, hike, or cruise around on the scenic drives.
