Our Zoo and Aquarium Expert Says:

Opened in 1874, this is the oldest zoo in the United States, but also one of its best. Over 1,800 animals call it home, including the rare white lions, snow leopards, and jaguars. There are many special attractions and exhibits to enjoy, some which cost a little extra to see. Among them is the Channel 6 Zooballoon, which takes visitors 400 feet up in a helium balloon ride. Another is the Dodge Wild Earth Durango adventure simulators which take thrill seekers on a 3-D ride through the plains of Africa. There's a camel safari and an open air aviary where you can feed lorikeets and lories as they perch on your arms. Kids will enjoy the Children's Zoo which features a petting yard and daily live animal shows.

Especially for kids: Animal Rides, Boat Rides. Stroller rentals available.
