Our Sports Superfan Says:

The Wachovia Center, a part of the South Philadelphia Sports Complex known to some as "The Wack" is an indoor sports arena that is home to the NBA's Philadelphia 76ers and the NHL's Philadelphia Flyers. 21,600 people can cheer on the 76ers but when there's ice on the floor there's only sitting room for just over 19,500 fans. Big bands also play here when they're in town, and the stadium has also been used for NBA All-Star games and X Game competitions.

If you are confused by the name changes, the Wachovia Center was previously known as the CoreStates Center and the First Union Center. This is how mergers of billion dollar financial institutions affect the man in the street.

The stadium is just off of I-95 near the Broad Street/Sports Complex Exit. Public Transportation to the Wachovia Center is via the SEPTA subway Broad Street Line (orange) to Pattison Avenue, right at the foot of the park.
