Hidden Valley's motto is "Four season for Families". This small, family oriented, hill is only 43 miles from New York City and is located in the mountains of Vernon, New Jersey. Hidden Valley originally opened in 1975 as a private club, but has since developed into a full-fledged, albeit small, resort open to the general public.
With a 620 foot vertical drop, Hidden Valley has 15 trails serviced by 5 lifts, with the longest trail, Browse Along, clocking in at ¾ of a mile. There is full lighting at night allowing for nightly skiing, as well as 100% snowmaking ensuring some of the best conditions in the region and a long ski season. The proximity to Mountain Creek Ski Resort makes Hidden Valley a great break from the crowds with barely any lift lines. Hidden Valley offers a variety of discounts for Police, Firefighters, Military Personnel & EMTs, as well as for New Jersey Ski Council Members.
For those searching for a place to practice grinding, Hidden Valley is a great place to spread your wings. Hidden Valley's terrain parks are a great training ground for boarders and skiers alike with features like the C-rail and rainbow. For those looking for a beginner's route, the Mini Park has taken on the same features as the large terrain park, but scaled down. Make sure to check the events calendar for the annual Big Air, Freestyle, Boardercross, and Skiercross competitions.
For skiers and snowboarders looking for a place to learn how to fly, Hidden Valley's race programs are sure to help them grow wings. These programs are designed to provide skiers with the skills necessary to become superior skiers. The team of instructors and coaching staff has produced state champions as well as US Ski Team Members, and has one of the longest running racing programs in the region.
With its proximity to New York City (being just a 1 hour drive from the George Washington Bridge) one can definitely ski and/or board all day and still make it on time for dinner plans in the City. For those looking for a bite on the mountain, there are a few places to eat as well as bar open on Wednesdays and Fridays for après-ski drinks. If you're looking for a place to lay your head, there are a variety of Bed & Breakfasts, motels, and hotels close by in the towns of Vernon, Glenwood and Warwick.
