If you're tired of mountains with long chair rides and short descents then Blue Mountain Ski Area is the place for you. Looking for a great workout? Of Blue Mountain's 30 slopes, 3 of them are over 1 mile long, as well as having one of the longest terrain parks in the Poconos. Blue Mountain also enjoys a reputation for the highest vertical drop in all of Pennsylvania at over a thousand feet that is sure to provide you with a thrill all the way down.

With 30 slopes, Blue Mountain allows for skiers and snowboarders of all levels to benefit from a varying degree of slope difficulties, ensuring fun for the entire family. The slopes are serviced by 10 lifts, including the high speed detachable Six Pack Lift, allowing for a quicker trip up the mountain and carpet conveyer lifts to make children's lessons a little bit easier.

Weather permitting, Blue Mountain's season runs from early December up until late March, and provides for long ski days with night skiing on all its slopes. Due to it's proximity to Philadelphia, the mountain is popular with local skiers and tends to fill up on the weekends. If you're looking for short lift lines and a quiet day on the hill, it's probably a good idea take advantage of the variety of discounts available on weekdays such as Men's Day, Business Person's Day, and Ladies' Day. For the younger ski set there are discounts available for college students. It's best to hit the slopes early on during the day, as by mid-afternoon the slopes tend to get a bit icy.

Snowboarders are free to roam on all slopes, but Blue Mountain prides itself on its ever-developing terrain parks. The more advanced shredder will discover paradise in the Sidewinder Park, with a variety of rails, staircases, and boxes to really catch some air, while allowing beginners to try out a few tricks of their own thanks to the gradual transitions set up on the Terrain Run. Combined, these two parks make for one of the longest terrain parks in the Poconos.

If the kids are bored, or you're hamstrings simply need a break, head over to the Blue Mountain's tubing zone. With three lifts and 14 slides at 3 different levels, tubing is sure to get your adrenaline pumping. Adventure is just around the corner for those looking for a little extreme sport, as intermediate and advanced skiers and snowboarders lessons are available to teach you to race with the best of them in a true racing environment. Also, make sure to keep up to date with the mountain's event calendar as Blue Mountain is often chosen to host a variety of local and regional races.

The resort provides a variety of services for its daytrip and long term visitors. Both the lower mountain and upper mountain lodges provide a warm, smoke free environment to sit and have a quick bite to eat, as well as a great jumping off point for your day. Thousands of skis and snowboard are available for rental, and a variety of lessons are available for all ages and skill levels. Worried about losing your skis? Don't be. Blue Mountain provides a ski check service so you can enjoy the view worry free. Babysitting is available on the mountain at a minimal charge.

Although there are a few cafeterias on the mountain, if you're looking for an evening bite you're better off taking a short drive. You won't have to look far to find a variety of cafes and restaurants. Towns as close as Lehighton and Jim Thorpe (just a few miles from the mountain) provide a wide variety of dining opportunities. Whether it's Indian, Italian, or American food you're looking for, you'll find something to keep your taste buds satisfied.

Blue Mountains' proximity to Allentown (17 miles), Bethlehem & Eaton (20 miles) and Philadelphia (75 miles), means that finding a place to lay your head, or grab a quick beer after skiing, is never a problem.
