A leisurely raft ride down the river (note the word "leisurely" - there is very little whitewater) or just about any water activity, is extremely popular in the park. The recreation area also boasts several cultural and historic sites including Millbrook Village. Take a peaceful hike through the scenic forests and ancient mountains towards the sparkling Silverthread or Dingmans Falls.

During the summer, rangers present programs just for kids, as well as family campfire programs and guided walks suitable for family groups with children. The Pocono Environmental Education Center, just off Route 209 within the recreation area, offers a variety of programs for children and families year round. There is a charge for some of these programs. Kids can also explore the park on their own using the Junior Naturalist and Junior Ranger booklets.
