Our Museum Expert Says:

Take a walk through a giant heart and enjoy an afternoon with Ben Franklin! Explore Sir Issac's Loft and reach for the stars in one of the nation's most visited science museums.

Filled with fantastic interactive exhibits, the Franklin Institute Science Museum, named for Benjamin Franklin, is not just for kids. All who visit will love exploring the Giant Heart exhibit, which features the largest walk-through heart in the country, the accurate size for a 220-foot tall person. The train factory lets visitors be the engineer of a 350-ton locomotive, feel the steam and investigate train accidents.

The museum also boasts an IMAX theater and a planetarium, as well as great educational programs for kids whose brains are hungry for more. The Science Park, right in the backyard, is another great spot for children to learn about science through miniature golf, swinging on a swing set, and playing with sundials, sand pendulums, hide-and-seek tunnels and mini-periscopes. The museum has great dining options at both Ben's Bistro and the Atrium Café for the whole family to enjoy.

You can get here by SEPTA Regional Rail, Suburban Station and 30th Street Station are both short cab rides away. If you are able, Suburban is in close walking distance and 30th Street is in moderately close walking distance. An afternoon at the Franklin Science Center promises a day filled with fun for all, so don't miss it!
