Our Museum Expert Says:

Get reconnected with nature! The Academy of Natural Science is home to over 25 million specimens and fantastic exhibits that will instill a passion for nature in anyone who visits.

The Academy of Natural Science went through three different buildings in sixty years, and today, its present home is in the heart of Philadelphia's cultural district. The Academy boasts unique and educational exhibits such as the Live Animal Center, which is home to over 100 live birds, mammals, reptiles and invertebrates - which were injured or born in captivity and would not have survived on their own in the wild. Children will love digging for dinosaur bones in the Big Dig, walking through live butterflies in the Butterflies exhibit and exploring Dinosaur Hall. Naturalist shows are also available in the auditorium where natural history and live nature is explored live. Most unique perhaps, are the two-hour experiential tours which take visitors behind the scenes at the Museum.

Should you feel the instinct, the Ecology Café offers burgers, pizza, hot dogs, sandwiches, salads, fruit and yogurt, so don't forget to pop in.

To get here, choose from three SEPTA bus routes that run within a block of the Academy and spend an exciting afternoon at the Academy of Natural Science.
