Our History Buff Says:

Travel through five Pennsylvania counties bursting with heritage and brimming with outdoor adventure. Each region of the Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor is unique and offers plenty of opportunity to experience and celebrate this 165 mile area of eastern Pennsylvania.

The Delaware River region has welcomed waves of immigrants for over 300 years and the signs of this cultural diversity are evident in the streets of every town. The agricultural landscapes tell the stories of generations of farmers came from afar but embraced the land and made it their own. Today, the region is known for its outstanding outdoor recreation rooted in magnificent scenery and rich history. Filled with countryside, rugged mountains and lush valleys, as well as communities filled with varying ethnicities, the Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor offers plenty of ways to enjoy and discover eastern Pennsylvania's past. Visitors can enjoy boating, hiking, biking, and fishing, alongside scenic rivers, historic canals and towns, green mountains and valleys, and remnants of early industries. There is truly something here for everyone, from Eckley Miners' Village, a state historic site which recreates life in a typical mining town of years past to Allentown which hosts interesting museums. Visit the Moravian Community and the Bethlehem Steel Complex along the Lehigh River, and make sure you bring the whole family to the fun Crayola Factory at Two Rivers Landing in Easton. While you're in the area, be sure to visit Hugh Moore Park and take a ride on a mule driven canal boat. Doylestown boasts the nation's most comprehensive collection of early American tools displayed in the Mercer Museum, and Bowman's Hill Tower and Wildflower Preserve have the best of panoramic river valley views—and the list just goes on!

The Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor is located on the Delaware River. I-78 and I-22 pass Easton and I-80 passes through Carbon and Luzerne Counties, an hour to the north of Easton. Have a great time exploring, learning, adventuring and relaxing by the banks of the Delaware River!
