Weather in Philadelphia, Lancaster, Poconos, Eastern Pennsylvania

Things to do / Travel Guide

Eastern Pennsylvania features a relatively humid climate with rainfall possible year-round. Winter is cold and windy with much snow and strong winds throughout the season. Despite some occasional light rain, temperatures rise noticeably in the spring, which is mild with comfortable breezes. Cherry blossoms are in bloom this season, making the region, especially the less urban areas, quite picturesque. Summer is hot and incredibly humid with occasional afternoon thunderstorms. Fall is the driest season with warm days, cool nights, and occasional showers.

There's no avoiding the rain, which has the potential to fall almost any time you might visit, but you can always escape a downpour at one of the many indoor attractions. The most pleasant times to visit eastern Pennsylvania weather-wise are when the spring gives way to summer, in late May/early June, and after the summer's thick humidity all but disappears in the fall. Be aware that if you come to Philadelphia to celebrate Independence Day, it's likely that hot and humid conditions will await you.
