Philadelphia
Morris Arboretum - This romantic Victorian landscape garden belonging to the University of Pennsylvania features over 90 acres of gardens with thousands of rare and lovely plants. It is located at 100 East NW Avenue.
Bartram's Gardens - The oldest botanical garden in the United States, this 18th-century country garden is surrounded by urban Philadelphia. In the gardens you can see a wildflower meadow, majestic trees, river trail, wetland, the original stone residence, and farm buildings overlooking the Schuylkill River. Within the gardens is an interesting botanical garden of indigenous American plants.
Brandywine River Valley
Longwood Gardens - These world-famous horticultural display gardens are a must-see. Located in Kennett Square, 30 miles southwest of Philadelphia, in the Brandywine River Valley, the 1,050 acres of gardens offer gorgeous woodlands and meadows. There are 20 outdoor and 20 indoor gardens, spectacular fountains, and a children's garden as well. Open every day of the year, Longwood is the perfect place to relax and enjoy nature in a contained environment.
Hershey
Hershey Botanical Gardens - A legacy of Milton Hershey, the chocolate magnate, this botanical display garden specializes in roses and tulips. There's also a children's garden. Be sure to check out the Butterfly House, especially during the hatching months between mid-May and mid-September.
