Our History Buff Says:

This is the place your U.S. history teacher always gave the proverbial drum roll; the point on the map where settlers made their first historic New World pit-stop, established an elective government, and forever changed the history of the land. Listed on the National Register of Natural Landmarks and the National Register of Historic Landmarks, First Landing State Park near Virginia Beach, is the most visited park in the state. Many people visit to conquer the trails and commune with nature, but folks also stop by on a historical pilgrimage - to walk the same paths as the pilgrims. Purists will want to visit the Cape Henry Memorial located in the adjacent Fort Story Military Reservation, which lays claim to be the approximate site of the actual landing.
