Our Zoo and Aquarium Expert Says:

Explore one of the top five botanical gardens in the United States. Home to more than 10,000 kinds of plants from Australia, Africa, and the Himalayas, and more than 1,000 orchid species, Denver Botanic Gardens is a global flora celebration. Specific garden areas here include the Birds and Bees Walk, Boettcher Conservatory, Children's Secret Path, Cloud Forest Tree, Japanese Garden, June's Plant Asia, Mile High Garden, and Monet Garden, among others. The Denver Botanic Gardens are so famous as to even have a movie credit to their name, having been featured in the Woody Allen film "Sleeper." The concrete-and-Plexiglas Tropical Conservatory houses thousands of species of tropical and subtropical plants, while colorful orchids and bromeliads share space with a collection of plants used for food, fibers, dyes, building materials, and medicines. There is also a gift shop, a library, and an auditorium here, along with special events scheduled throughout the year. These include garden concerts, spring plant sales, and the cornfield maze, southwest of Denver, in the fall.

Be sure to allow 1 to 2 hours to take it all in at the Denver Botanic Gardens, located at 1005 York Street in Denver, just 10 minutes east of Downtown Denver, and one mile north of the Cherry Creek Shopping Center.
