Our Sports Superfan Says:

Cowboys, horses, country music, a fair, and thousands of fans pack Frontier Park each July for a celebration of the American West, and what is billed as the largest outdoor rodeo in the world, during the Cheyenne Frontier Days. So many fans come, in fact, that some have to stay in neighboring states just to find lodging.

The event was inaugurated in 1897, and features a large fair, complete with rides, carnival games, and food, to go along with a Native American-style village, Wild West shows, and nightly concerts by major country music artists. But most notable of all, of course, is the large rodeo held at Frontier Park.

The rodeo, which proclaims itself the largest outdoor event of its kind, has competitions in bull riding, steer wrestling, barrel racing, wild horse racing, and many more such events. It lasts from 1 p.m. to approximately 4:30 p.m. every day of the Frontier Days celebration. More than 300,000 fans come each year to Frontier Days, filling up the entire metro area and even spilling into Nebraska and Colorado.
