Our Ski Specialist Says:

If this 10,000 foot elevation and over 250 inches of snowfall a season doesn't convince you to come to Snowy Range Ski area, then you're missing out on a terrific powder vacation this season! Located in the devastatingly beautiful Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest, Snowy Range ski area certainly lives up to it's name. The 250 acres of skiable terrain is sure to please anyone in your group.

From Thanksgiving to March, Snowy Range is open daily from 9am to 4pm with its twenty-seven named trails at your service. These range from seven beginner trails and twelve intermediate slopes to eight advanced level trails, all of which are served by four chairlifts. Cruise down the many rolling hills and steep chutes, and don't miss the longest trail on the mountain which cruises continuously for 1.8 miles. For cross-country skiers, there is a network of trails that is maintained by the US Forest Service which is also suitable for snowshoe enthusiasts. Snowboarders can play all day long in the "Renegade" terrain park which features a rail yard, multiple boxes, and its very own halfpipe which is groomed and shaped weekly.

Lessons are given by professionally certified instructors in both private and group settings. Children must be 8 years old to take a snowboard lesson, and 11 years old in order to participate in a group lesson with other guests. For children who don't meet these age requirements, there is a half day ski and play program for 4 to 10 year old children which includes a lift ticket, lesson, rental equipment, lunch and supervision. Private lessons can be bought in hourly time blocks or for the whole day. There are also lesson packages that include a lift ticket, lesson fee and rentals.

Rental equipment is available on site, and has varying prices for both adults and children. Guests may rent out ski equipment in either daily or multiple day packages, however snowboards are only rented out on a daily basis. There are a selection of top name brand skis, snowboards, and ski blades offered.

Lift passes are sold at both adult (12 years and up) and child prices. Children under the age of 5, and seniors over the age of 70, ski or ride free here. Daily or multiple day lift tickets are sold for either full or half-day (which starts at 12:30am) time frames.

Snowy Range's day lodge is capable of seating around 850 people at any given time and has a cafeteria that is stocked with hot and cold selections. It also has a bar which is serviced by staff that will come and take your order. There is no lodging on site and the only eatery is the cafeteria, so guests usually head into nearby Laramie or Centennial, Wyoming where there are over 900 hotel rooms, and more than 50 different options for dining. There are bed and breakfasts, motels, and inns to rest your feet and get a great night of sleep. Cuisine from Chinese to western steakhouses and all the tea rooms in between are waiting to be explored. The University of Wyoming is located in Laramie, so the nightlife is teeming with young energy and plays host to an array of bars, lounges, country kickbacks, and stomping live entertainment.

Denver, Colorado is only 140 miles away and features other resorts which can be much more crowded, but for an elevation that can match theirs, visitors looking for big skiing will be heading further west, out to Snowy Range this season.
