Our Museum Expert Says:

Denver. Films, performing arts and installations are just the beginning at this eclectic and diverse exhibition of art.

The MCA was founded in 1996 by a group of volunteers and artists who wanted to create a permanent home for contemporary art in Denver. Visitors here should expect the unexpected. From the political to the religious, the ever-changing collection is sure to satisfy curious minds. There are special programs for young children and a variety of other events throughout the year. This includes performing arts such as poetry, dance, music and drama featuring local, national, and international performers. Saturday evenings in the summer, the Museum shows classic films and cult classics outside on the lawn.

At the moment, the MCA has moved from Sakura Square to a new space called the Temporary Contemporary located on the corner of 15th & Delgany in Lower Downtown Denver. It is directly across the street from the site of the new building, which is currently under construction. The Light Rail, RTD buses and 16th Street Mall Shuttles all stop Union Station at 16th & Wewatta, just two short blocks away. Stay tuned for the move to its new location.
