Explore the cosmos, walk through the Hall of Life and come face to face with an Egyptian mummy! The Denver Museum of Nature and Science is filled with cool science and nature exhibits, so bring the whole family and experience the natural wonders of Colorado, Earth, and the Universe.
The Museum of Nature and Science is Denver's primary natural history museum - due to its high elevation it is known for its famous view of the city's skyline and mountains. Inside, visitors can enjoy exhibits such as the Space Odyssey, where one can explore the cosmos and take in views of space, including a dramatic Martian canyon and swirling nebulae of dust and gas. For those with a sparkle in their eye, the Gems and Minerals exhibit lets visitors explore milky white gypsum crystals, stalactites and a six-foot wall of blood-red rhodochrosite crystals, not to mention cool local finds like Tom's Baby, an eight-pound nugget of crystallized gold unearthed in 1887.
The IMAX theater always has great shows, as does the Gates planetarium, and as if there weren't enough here for the kids to enjoy, the Museum offers children's workshops with titles like Fun with Crystals and Dandy Dinosaurs. The Grab 'N Go is perfect for a quick salad, along with sandwiches, burgers and plenty of other kid meals too.
To get to the Museum, take RTD buses #20, #32, #40, and DD stop near the Museum on Colorado and Montview Boulevards. Consider bringing a sweatshirt to enjoy a comfortable afternoon in this spectacular tribute to nature, science and fun!
