Things to do / Travel Guide

The eastern Colorado and Wyoming Rockies region features two central areas where casinos are located, both within the state of Colorado. The first is in Cripple Creek, the site of about 15 small casinos, where gamblers can treat themselves to limited-stakes poker, slots, video gaming, and blackjack. The other area is Black Hawk/Central City, about 35 miles west of Denver. These historic Gold Rush-era towns, about a mile away from each other, were rebuilt specifically for the purposes of limited-stakes gaming. There are almost 20 casinos in Black Hawk/Central City that feature, among other games, slots, bingo, video poker, video keno, as well as table games like Three-Card Poker, Let It Ride, and traditional poker games like Omaha and Texas Hold 'em. Casino patrons should be aware that in this region no single wager at either a table game or a video gaming machine can exceed $5, as per Colorado state law. All casinos in this region are open 24/7 to gamblers 21 and up.
