Venture down the whitewater of the Upper Gunnison River. Experience the 11 miles of Class I-II rapids, passing through Escalante and Dominguez canyons where you can see large panels covered with petroglyph from lost civilizations. This section is located in south-central Colorado, north of Gunnison, on Hwy 135.

Practical Info: Rafting season is open approximately from May to September, with whitewater rafting trips that can be completed in a half day. The river is suitable for oar rafts, and paddle/oar rafts.

Useful Tips: Guides are optional, although permits may be required for private trips. Outfitters on the Upper Gunnison River offer trips suitable for families.
